Putnam Man Arrested On Gun And Drug Charges

He is barred from possessing the weapon due to his criminal history, police said.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a Garrison man on weapons and drug related charges. Brian C. Reiniger, 48, faces felony charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree; and two misdemeanors: Criminal Possession ofa Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

On Oct. 9, a member of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol Division received information that a man residing in Philipstown was unlawfully in possession of a pistol.

On Oct. 12, members of the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit were able to obtain a search warrant for Reiniger’s residence, 627 Route 9, and vehicle.

Narcotics Enforcement Unit members reported recovering a .357 Sig pistol, three magazines, additional ammunition, and a quantity of alleged cocaine.

Reiniger does not possess a valid pistol permit and is barred from possessing the weapon, due to his criminal history, police said.

He was arraigned in Putnam Valley Justice Court by the Honorable Justice Gina Capone, on behalf of Philipstown Justice Court. Justice Capone remanded him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail.
