Putnam Sheriff: Yorktown Teen Injecting Heroin Near Lake Secor
The 19-year-old faces charges.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Yorktown woman on drug charges.
Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit were patrolling the Lake Secor section of Mahopac, at 9:15 p.m. April 2 when they observed suspicious activity inside a parked vehicle.
Police said they found that one of the occupants, identified as Candace Moran, 19, had been injecting herself with heroin.

The deputies arrested Moran and charged her with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and with Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, misdemeanors. She was processed and released pending a future appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charges.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, she could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
