Putnam Woman on Probation Charged with Felony Drug Possession

County sheriff's deputies allege they found cocaine during a "home check."

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley woman on a felony drug possession charge.

At 10:20 a.m. Aug. 31, Deputy Sheriff Frank Gallipani responded to assist the Putnam County Probation Department with a “home check” at 1 Oscawana Lake Road in Putnam Valley. Police allege that they found probationer Wanda C. Eastman, 52, of that address, in possession of quantities of cocaine.

The deputy arrested Eastman and charged her with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a felony. She was processed at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Nelsonville Substation and held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the felony charge, she could face up to seven years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.
