Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Child Porn

BREWSTER, NY — A registered sex offender was arrested for allegedly possessing child porn. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department said Shawn Waters, 34, of Brewster, was charged with 10 counts of possession an obscene sexual performance by a child, felonies.

A search warrant was executed Dec. 13 by members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department at an apartment in the Village of Brewster.

Multiple electronic devices were seized.

Authorities said Waters was interviewed and arrested after images and videos of obscene sexual acts by children were found on one of the electronic devices in his possession.

He was taken to the sheriff's office and was charged.

Waters was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

According to the state database, Waters is a registered sex offender. He was convicted in 2009 of third-degree attempted criminal sexual act and sentenced to one year in jail.
