Route 121 Scheduled To Reopen Monday
Work replacing the collapsing roadway at Peach Lake is mostly finished.

PEACH LAKE, NY — Route 121 on the southeast side of Peach Lake, which has been closed as crews fixed the collapsing roadway, is expected to reopen Monday, weather permitting.
Replacement of the culvert between Cottage Lane and Short Street in North Salem proceeded as planned, said Heather Pillworth, spokeswoman for the New York State Department of Transportation.
Minor finishing work with little impact on traffic will take place at the site during the next several days.

The project to put in a new culvert was necessary because the beams supporting the roadway were collapsing. A steel plate had been put in place to support the southbound side of the road, Southeast town officials said.
The work has been going on most of the summer, and since the beginning of August, local and commuter traffic has endured long detours involving Route 6 and Starr Ridge Road.
