Service for Toby Elizabeth Scala

Toby Elizabeth Scala, of Summit, NY, formerly Putnam Lake, NY, died suddenly on October 30, 2016. She was 35 years old.

Mrs. Scala was born on August 7, 1981 in Port Chester, NY, daughter of John and Ellen (Henefield) Nye, of Putnam Lake, NY. Toby graduated from Brewster High School. A few years after high school she moved to Jefferson, NY, where she met Timothy Scala. Her life changed from that moment on, she found her reason for life with Tim.

On June 14, 2011 she married Timothy, shortly after their wedding they welcomed a daughter Riley. Riley was the world to Toby. She was complete with her husband and daughter.

Toby woke up every day with a smile on her face. She enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, gardening and crafts. Game night was a great time, she always beat everyone at scrabble. Toby’s life was her family, she was a wonderful wife, spectacular mother and an amazing daughter and sister.

Besides her husband, daughter and parents, Toby is survived by her siblings; Chelsey Hobby and Jack Nye both of Putnam Lake, NY, SueEllen (Adam) Chandler of Georgia, Hannah Nye of Connecticut and Daniel (Sumiko) Nye of Japan. Her niece Scarlet Hobby and 2 nephews Rowen and Ender Nye.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 5:30 PM at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY. Family will receive friends from 2pm until the start of the service. A private cremation took place prior to the service.

Contributions in Toby’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
