Sophomore Biondi Records 200th Career Lax Goal
Super sophomore Lindsay Biondi records 200th goal against perennial girls lacrosse powerhouse Lakeland/Panas.

Most girls lacrosse players will never score 200 goals in a career, much less before the end of their sophomore season. Then again most players aren’t Brewster sophomore Lindsay Biondi, who has registered 61 goals and 25 assists for the Bears so far this spring.
She scored her 200th career goal, which was her third in the game, in a 13-9 loss at Lakeland/Panas on May 16.
For Biondi to reach such a tremendous milestone and to do it against last year's Class A state finalist and winners of the last four Section 1 Class A championships made the accomplishment even more memorable for her.

Biondi said she couldn’t accomplish what she has at such a meteoric pace without the help of her teammates.
“It means a lot to me,” she said. “I am happy that I was able to do it. I wouldn’t have been able to do it, though, without my teammates. They have helped me get as far as I have. I am more concerned, though, with how far we get as a team than what I do individually.”

Having other teammates that you can rely on is important, too, she said.
“It’s so wonderful,” Biondi said. “It’s not just on me. We have a lot of people in our lineup who can score, we just don’t rely on one person. Being able to score as a group is a strong thing for a team to have.”
Having five players who have totaled at least double digits in goals scored this season has helped the Bears earn an 11-5 regular-season record and a No. 4 seed in the Section 1 Class B tournament.
“We all have worked hard to play as a team, to play with each other,” Biondi said. “That’s why we’ve been able to do what we have done this year.”
One of her teammates, junior Jess Blumberg, said one of Biondi’s big attributes is that she is a team player.
“She’s doesn’t get aggravated, she always helps us,” Blumberg said. “She’s not a selfish player. She leads us on the field.”
Besides the help of her teammates, Biondi said the help she has received from coaches and family helped her get on the fast track in the game of lacrosse.
Biondi said head coach Gerry Walsh is an “outstanding coach.”
Biondi's mom, Laura, is one of the team's assistant coaches, along with assistant coach Steve Steigerwald.
Biondi credits he mother with developing her talent and skills in lacrosse by teaching her the game starting in first grade. While some players would have trouble having one of their parents on the coaching staff, Biondi says she likes having her mom as one of the coaches.
“I am blessed to have a coach that is also my mom,” Biondi said. “She has taught me everything I need to know to be where I am. I couldn’t have done what I have done without her.”
Thanks to her mom, Biondi will be in position to play the sport in college. She admits that she would like to go away to a warmer climate.
“I definitely want to go down south or west,” Biondi said. “I want to play D-I, but I don’t know if it’s higher or lower yet.”
