Southeast Crash Leads to DWI Charge for CT Man

He was found driving a badly damaged car on Route 312.

A Connecticut man faces a charge of DWI connected to a traffic accident Sept. 22.

At 10:13 p.m.,Tuesday, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski responded to a 911 report of a vehicle that had struck another vehicle on Nancy Lane in Southeast and had fled the scene westbound on Route 312.

Sadowski located a vehicle on Route 312 in the vicinity of International Boulevard that was severely damaged and was being operated at a very low rate of speed with one working headlight. He stopped it and concluded that the driver, identified as John J. McConologue, 54, of 28 Anderson St., Naugatuck, Connecticut was intoxicated.

McConologue was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, McConologue faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
