Sports Stats: Cross Country Competes in League-Wide Events

Coach Joseph Scelia provided Patch with the following update after Thursday's league championships at Bowdoin Park in Poughkeepskie:

Congratulations to the boys as they won their fourth straight cross county league title. The boys had an impressive 20-point victory over second-place Somers and the rest of the league. The boys are starting to come together. Justin Maguire won the race in a blistering 16:29 over a strong field. Adam McIe had a solid race and great kick to finish third. Charlie Carr had an encouraging race back in 17:13.  Rounding out our top 5 were Nick Cortina in 11th, and the rapidly improving and gutsy Eric Fedio in 17th.      

Our girls ran very hard today, but were outmatched by Somers and Mahopac. Our top six girls will all be back next year — this experience will only help moving forward. Ariana Bottalico won her fifth invitational of the season with a solid 19:35. Jamie Maguire and Dylan Scerri placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
