State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on I-84
The accident happened early Monday in Kent.
KENT, NY – At about 2 a.m. Monday, New York State Police responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision on Interstate 84 between Ludingtonville Road and Route 311.
Police said preliminary investigation showed that the car, which was headed east, exited the roadway for an unknown reason onto the northern shoulder near mile post marker 61.2.
The vehicle traveled roughly 60 feet into the median, stopped after striking a rock cut and a tree, and caught fire, police said.

The driver, a 58-year-old East Longmeadow, Massachusetts man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Also responding to the crash site were Lake Carmel Fire Department, EMStar, and the Putnam County Coroner Dr. Daniel Stephens, state police said.
