Brewster’s combined Boys Varsity Swim and Dive team had a very successful season. Coach Carr boasts, “quality not quantity”, when describing her roster of 16. Dual meet season was 11-1 with undefeated records from Charlie Carr and Niki Tchobanov.  Both are sixth year Varsity swimmers and captains of Brewster Boys.

Niki hopes to attend Leigh in the fall where he will carry on his tradition of swimming. Niki ends his career All-League, All-Section 3 years in a row with trips to states his junior year and hopefully this year. He is a talented swimmer who keeps us in suspense waiting until sectionals to hit an auto time in 500 free last year. He will hopefully do the same this year!

Charlie Carr will be attending the University of Pennsylvania where the track coach and swim coach can barter for his talent. Charlie received All-League, All-Section status since ninth grade, riding the state bus for 3 years in a row.

This past Divisional meet, last Saturday at Peekskill, he was determined to hit his mark and state auto cuts in both his individual events (100 butterfly, 100 back). He was successful in his efforts swimming a time of 54.21 in the 100 fly and 55.56 in the 100 back which – both state auto times.

Coach Carr states, “He has never let me down in or out of the water, always setting attainable goals and reaching them. He and Niki will be sorely missed.”

The following swimmers had PR’s: Brian Valedon eighth grade-100 fly & 500 free sending him to sectionals.  Mark Stein: Diving score of 258 in Divisional @ PACE, putting him comfortable at Sectionals with an 11 dive format at PACE this Friday, February 10.

Other Sectional qualifiers include: Max Delin, Matt Kaufman, Daniel Fulop, Liam Hackett, and Gregory Markert.  They are John Jay peers and members of the merged team.
