Tigers Nip Bears: Southeast-Brewster Daily Sports Digest April 20

Welcome to Patch's daily snapshot of sports in Brewster.

Brewster Baseball

4/18/12 — The Brewster Bears lost to the Tigers of North Salem by the score of 7-6 today at North Salem High School. North Salem jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but the Bears scored four times in the top of the 4th to take the lead. 

"I thought their first pitcher was tough but we got to him in the fourth inning with some good at-bats," said Coach Ed Mulvihill.

Sean Fitzgerald and TJ DelFRanco had singles and they were followed by a walk to Matt Ghelarducci. 

Mark Bentson then hit a double down the left field line scoring two runs and that was followed by a single off the bat of Chris Waters to left field to bring in two more runs. 

North Salem fought back and tied the score at 4 with a couple of runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Brewster jumped back on top when Sean Henderson hit a two out double to right center field and the Bears were up by two runs again. 

North Salem scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the final lead of the day and held on for the win.

"North Salem was really 'up' for this game. We did not match their enthusiasm at all. It's something we will need to be aware of in the future," said Coach Mulvihill.

Rodriguez to Tampa

Andrew Rodriguez 'Arod' - Commits to the University of Tampa

This young man has done so much for our Kennedy Catholic Lacrosse program.  He is a very dedicated player who has worked so hard and led the team toward success. We are very excited to have him be our first recruit.  His name will go down in the history of this program. We'll always remember the name 'Arod.'
