Two Putnam 22-year-olds Arrested After Tool Theft

Police allege the duo was involved in other criminal activity.

Southeast, NY – On August 15, 2016, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested two 22-year-olds in connection with the theft of tools from a van.

  • 22-year-old Anthony J. Palumbo of Brewster is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, a D Felony, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, a D Felony, Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, an E Felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, an E Felony, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools, all Misdemeanors.
  • Patrick D. Holder, age 22, of Patterson is charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, both Felonies, and Criminal Mischief, a Misdemeanor.

Police said troopers were dispatched by Putnam County 911 on Aug. 15 for a larceny of tools from a vehicle at the intersection of Milltown Road and Old Milltown Road. A caller had reported that he saw a man had broken the van's window, removed tools from the interior, then got into the passenger side of a gray Honda which drove away.

The victim attempted to stop the car but fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries.

With the assistance of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, the suspects' vehicle was located on Shore Drive. Two people were placed in custody β€” and found to be in possession of the property reported stolen by the victim, police said.

They were identified as Holder and Palumbo. Pursuant to further investigation into their criminal activity, State Police executed a search warrant at one of their homes. It appears that they were involved in additional criminal activity in the Putnam County area, police said. Additional charges are pending.

They were arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash/bond. Anyone with information regarding either is asked to contact the State Police in Brewster by calling (845) 677-7300.
