WCC friends,
In memory of WCC member Al Taylor, who was run down and killed by a motorist while riding his bike in Patterson on May 5, we'll install a ghost bike in his honor on Sat. June 5.
Like the ghost bike we put up in 2009 for Merrill Cassell, it will remind motorists - and cyclists - about how we need to share the road.

We'll put up the ghost bike at the Putnam County Highway yard, at 842 Fair St., Patterson, at 10.30 a.m. Bring a piece of biking memorabilia to drape on the bike, as well did for Merrill's bike, which still stands on Route 119 in Greenburgh.
Here's a link to a video of that ceremony:

Some of us will be gathering at the Patterson Metro North Station, 1 Front Street, at 9:45 a.m., to have a silent ride up to the site, about 5 miles up route 311 - and along our club's vaunted Double Century route. At the station, we will also meet some of Al's friends from NYC, who will come up by train for the ceremony. So if there is anyone who can volunteer to drive them up the hill, that would be great.
