Winter Storm Warning Issued for Brewster, Southeast
The National Weather Service has upgraded from an "advisory" to a "warning"

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Putnam County. It’s in effect from midnight tonight till 6 p.m., Jan. 24.
Heavy wet snow is expected—from 5-8 inches of it, with up to one-tenth of an inch of ice.
Visibility could be less than a quarter-mile at times. Snow could fall at an inch an hour Saturday morning.

Treacherous travel conditions are expected. Plus, the weight of the heavy wet snow could knock down some tree limbs and power lines.

Forecasters are still hedging about the impact of the storm locally.
“A distance of 30 miles could make the difference between 6 inches of snow and an inch of rain from Philadelphia to New York City, adding to the forecast challenge,” said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.
