High-school wrestling

We thank the coaching staff for the below submission of its Jan. 26 home match:

Host Brewster lost to League Rival Arlington 37 to 30 for Championship

Mike Parise reached his 160th career victory when Arlington forfeited to him at 106 and bumped Nick Tolli to 113 (Tolli beat Nick McGill in a close 2-0 bout).

Brewster kept the match close even with four of their starters out of the lineup.

(Jimmy Duncan out with an illness- cleared to wrestle divisional / Gino Gioelli out for the season / Joe Buonadonna -day to day / Mike Liston- Day to Day)

Along with Senior Captain Parise, Senior Captain Kyle McAlpin had a 10-6 victory;

Senior Captain Harry Erickson won 5 to 3;

Senior Bruno Albertassi had a big pin to close out their last match in front of the home crowd;

Senior Tom Gonska had a brawl vs Arlington's Vinny Martin losing 10 to 7 (with multiple technical points awarded for unnecessary roughness on both wrestlers);

Senior Darius Ortega caught a buzz saw in his last appearance on the mats in Brewster.

Brewster will see many of these wrestlers again as they will travel to Arlington for the Divisionals.

Duncan and Parise

Brewster standout wrestlers Jimmy Duncan and Mike Parise not only are working hard to get the all-time Bears' wins record, they also pull for one another as well.
