• Mosquito spraying planned for parts of Staten Island to combat West Nile virus (silive.com) — Overnight mosquito spraying is scheduled for parts of Staten Island this Thursday night into early Friday to curb West Nile virus, with a backup date next Monday if weather interferes. Residents are urged to stay indoors if sensitive, adjust air conditioners if desired, use EPA-registered repellents, and eliminate standing water around their homes to reduce mosquito breeding.
