Harboring roosters in NYC is a violation of New York Agricultural Law, police said, adding that having live poultry in a barber shop is not sanitary. The roosters also showed signs of being used for fighting.
The birds were first brought to Animal Care & Control, police said. The officers learned that instead of being euthanized, the birds could be delivered to a sanctuary after being checked out by a veterinarians.
