Sunset Park To Celebrate Inaugural Taco Day On 5th Avenue
The event will highlight the immigrant entrepreneurs behind the neighborhood's food truck scene.
BROOKLYN, NY — Sunset Park will celebrate its inaugural Taco Day on Tuesday, October 6, with nine food trucks bringing Mexican street food to 5th Avenue between 44th and 59th streets.
The community event, organized by Voces Ciudadanas, Inc., will run from 5 to 11 p.m.
The event will highlight the immigrant entrepreneurs behind the neighborhood’s food truck scene and their contributions to the local economy.

Organizers say many of the vendors live and work in Sunset Park, employ an average of three to seven workers and remain open late, adding activity to the neighborhood’s commercial corridor.
As part of the celebration, attendees can pick up a Taco Passport at any participating truck and visit three vendors to receive free tacos.

The event will also give visitors an opportunity to meet food truck owners and hear about their experiences starting businesses and building new lives in Sunset Park.
The event coincides with International Taco Day and is intended to celebrate the cultural diversity, food traditions and immigrant-owned small businesses that contribute to Sunset Park’s 5th Avenue corridor.
