2 Syosset Teens Charged With Robbing Man Near Broadway Mall: Cops

A third teen involved in the robbery is still at large.

HICKSVILLE, NY - Two Syosset teens were arrested last Tuesday for robbing a 33-year-old man near the Broadway Mall, according to Nassau Police.

Jessai Cortes, 17, and Wanya Canty, 16, were charged with second degree robbery, police said.

Cortes was arraigned on Wednesday and held on a bail of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond, according to court records. Canty will be arraigned Tuesday.

The two were among a group of three who knocked the man to the ground, punched him and went through his pockets while walking from the mall near James Street and Sackett Street on Nov. 26 at 5:35 p.m., police say.

The trio also threatened the use of a gun, but never displayed a weapon. They stole the man's cellphone and wallet, police said.

The third teen is still at large.
