Body Found in Burning Car in Syosset

The car was found with a body inside on Wednesday afternoon.

SYOSSET, NY — The body of an unidentified person was found in a car that was on fire in Syosset on Wednesday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.

At 4:34 p.m., Second Precinct officers received a call for an occupied car on fire on Southwood Circle near the intersection of Belmont Circle, police said.

The fire was extinguished by the Syosset Fire Department, and the body of an unidentified person was found dead in the car, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz, police said.

The car was found on the wrong side of the street at a stop sign, CBS 2 reported.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were released.
