Car Leaks Gas On LIE

The car hit something in the road and was leaking fuel, and the local fire department was notified of a brush fire.

SYOSSET, NY — A car was leaking gas on the Long Island Expressway on Wednesday morning, officials said.

The Syosset Fire Department was notified at 11:14 a.m. of a brush fire on the eastbound Long island expressway at the South Oyster Bay exit. While units were heading there, the caller told them "It looked like the left lane was on fire."

Syosset Engine 585 arrived first and noticed a car hit something in the roadway and was leaking fuel. Crews applied speedy dry and the scene was turned over to NCPD Highway Units.
