Football Booster Club Fundraiser Invades Patsy's

Raffle snags one attendee a new TV.

Great food, wonderful service, and terrific company rounded out an evening to raise funds for the Syosset Football Booster Club.

The Booster Club is a collection of parents and alumni that donate money to help defray the costs for programs like camps, scrimmages and tournaments. The fundraiser held at Patsy's Pizzeria in Syosset was a wonderful success.

In attendance were varsity head coach Paul Rorke along with coaches Brian Fitzgerald, Ray DeLucca and Tom Morritt.

Parent Vinny Nuzzolese and alumnus student teacher/coaching assistant Alex Lombardi assisted in coordinating the event for the Booster Club, which was founded just last year.

Rorke appreciates what the Booster Club is accomplishing.

"Inside of begging, it's hard to come up with extra funding," Rorke said.

"It's incredibly high overhead for the sport," added Nuzzolese. "It's another level, and you can only give so much."

The idea of the Booster Club is to make sure the coaches aren't responsible for everything.

Proud parent Justin Storrie said, "This is a great thing. It takes a lot of the pressure off the coaches from the standpoint of fundraising."

Lombardi added, "As an alumnus, it is great to have an event to meet up with old teammates."

Raffles were sold for Mets tickets, and a Panasonic Viera 37" TV.

If you or anyone you know would still like to contribute, donations are always welcome and  tax deductible. Please e-mail Vincent Nuzzolese at vincenuzz77@aol.com
