Whitman students become puppeteers to learn Italian.

Whitman Elementary students took a turn at puppeteering to learn Italian in Lori Levien's second grade class. Using basic phrases like "ciao," "buon giorno," and "come ti chiami," students excitedly began conversing in another language.

Beginning in kindergarten, Syosset students learn Italian, French, Chinese, Spanish, and Latin. Later on, they choose a language to continue studying in middle school. In high school, they may continue with their chosen language as well as elect to take Japanese, American Sign Language, Russian, or Latin.
