
Former Syosset Brave, Sue Bird, won her third consecutive Olympic gold medal Saturday, beating France 86 to 50.
"Winning is fun," Bird told NBC after the game. "It feels good!"
Bird, a point guard for the WNBA's Seattle Storm, told NBC that tradition and respect for former teams played a big role in firing the team to win, saying "We did it for them as much as ourselves."

This is the first Olympics in which Bird did not battle Australia in the gold medal game. Australia took home the bronze medal against Russia Saturday afternoon.
"As long as we played hard and played together, we'd be alright," said Bird of the team's confidence against France, who medaled for the first time, taking home silver.

Team USA is now the first women's team to ever win five consecutive gold medals. They haven't lost an Olympic game since 1992.
