Syosset Fifth Graders Participate In Moving-Up Ceremonies

Fifth graders from seven Syosset elementary schools recently participated in their moving-up ceremonies, ready for middle school.

SYOSSET, NY—Fifth grade students from the seven Syosset elementary schools recently participated in moving up ceremonies held on June 18, as they celebrated the culmination of their elementary education and advancement to the secondary level, the district announced via press release.

The students, eager and well-prepared to enter H.B. Thompson or South Woods Middle School this fall, beamed with excitement as they prepared to officially become middle schoolers.

Fifth graders from A.P. Willits, Berry Hill, J. Irving Baylis, Robbins Lane, South Grove, Village and Walt Whitman kicked off the special occasion by marching into their respective ceremonies in front of family, faculty members, Board trustees and friends.

During the ceremonies, fifth graders throughout the schools were honored with multiple awards. From academic awards to recognitions for their participation in student council, NYSSMA, the Nassau All-County Artist program and the character education program PRIDE, the students' achievements were cheered. They were commended not only for educational achievements, but for their strong character development throughout their years in elementary school.

Principals and teachers announced and presented each student with a certificate to recognize their achievement as they advance from elementary to middle school and wished them well as they continue their educational and life journeys.
