SYOSSET, NY — Funeral services have been held for James "Lil' Mootsie" Thomas, a 71-year member of the Syosset Fire Department and U.S. Army veteran who died last week.

Thomas, 90, was reposed Sunday at the fire department on Cold Spring Road and a funeral service was held at St. Edward the Confessor RC Church on Monday morning. He was to be buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery on Chicken Valley Road in Upper Brookville.
