Syosset Resident Nominated For Team USA Award With Women's Basketball Team
Cast your vote to support local resident and Olympian Sue Bird.

Syosset residents got a chance to watch local native Sue Bird win the gold medal alongside the U.S. Women's Basketball Team in Rio last month, and now they get a chance to help her win another award.
The team is among the finalists for the Best of the Games Team USA Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of Team USA athletes year-round.
In Rio, the team earned it's sixth straight – and eighth overall – gold medal bringing their total Olympic wins up to 49.

Scoring more than 100 points in six of its eight games, the 2016 squad became the most prolific Olympic scoring team ever.
The Women's Basketball Team is competing for Best Team alongside the Women's Gymnastics Team, the Women's Rowing Eight, the Women's Track 400-meter Relay and the Women's Water Polo Team.

Voters can support the Syosset resident and the rest of the team by submitting their votes on awards.teamusa.org.
The voting will end on Friday, Sept. 9. The winners will be announced at the Team USA Awards Ceremony later this month in Washington, D.C.
Fan voting will make up 50 percent of the final tally while Olympic/Paralympic family voting will make up the other 50 percent.
In addition, you can cast your vote for Best Female Athlete: Simone Biles, Gymnastics; Gwen Jorgensen, Triathlon; Katie Ledecky, Swimming; Helen Maroulis, Wrestling or Claressa Shields, Boxing and for Best Male Athlete: Carmelo Anthony, Basketball; Matthew Centrowitz, Track and Field; Connor Fields, Cycling – BMX; Michael Phelps, Swimming or Kyle Snyder, Wrestling.
