Syosset Swim Across America Fundraiser for Cancer Research - Friday May 15, 8pm at Life Time

When: Friday May 15th at 8pm Where: Life Time Athletic Who: Open to the public of all ages, swimmers and non-swimmers alike

I’d like to share a letter from my 15 year old son who has started a fundraiser in Syosset to benefit cancer research on Long Island. Here’s his note:

“Hello everyone. As some of you know, I’ve been an avid swimmer for many years. A few years ago I was introduced to Swim Across America (SAA), a charity that raises money by holding swim events that are like walk-a-thons in the water. The money is raised to help fund cancer research locally and nationally, including places like Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, and The Feinstein Institute of North Shore LIJ.

This year I wanted to do more than just swim and raise money, so I decided to start a local event here in Syosset. Life Time Athletic generously agreed to donate their pool facilities to host the event on Friday May 15 at 8pm.

NOW I NEED YOU!

Whether you want to swim or not, you can come down to Life Time (no membership required) to join the fun and cheer on your friends, maybe even get a T-shirt too. This is NOT a serious swimming event. Anyone can swim at any level, or like I said, not swim but still come and be part of the fundraising.

All you need to do is REGISTER! Click www.swimacrossamerica.org/syosset to register online. From there you can easily create your own SAA web page which makes it really easy to raise money for this great cause. You can pledge to swim a little or a lot, or not at all like I said. It’s up to you.

I hope to see you there.”
