Syosset Woman Charged With Identity Theft

Police said the woman stole an elderly woman's identity to make fraudulent purchases.

Police have arrested a Syosset woman and charged her with identity theft after police said she assumed the identity of an 86-year-old woman -- a neighbor of hers in the senior citizens development they live in -- to obtain credit in her name in order to make fraudulent retail purchases.

Margaret Suraci, 52, of Eastwoods Road, Syosset, is being charged with identity theft in the second degree for the alleged theft which occurred back on Dec. 20, 2010.  Suraci will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
