3rd and 4th Grade Girls
The Syosset 3rd/4th grade girls lacrosse team had another great game last weekend, beating Hicksville 5-2 and stretching their perfect record to 4-0. Jessica Levy scored two goals, and the others came from Amelia Craporatta, Rebecca Korn and Nicole Rizzo. The midfielders, led by Sofia Afkham, kept the ball moving in the offensive zone. Melissa Esswein did an excellent job defensively, making amazing catches and passes and showing hustle during every play. Christine Mui had a remarkable game as she kept Hicksville out of Syosset's defensive zone with help from Uma Alagappan and the rest of the defensive team. Great job by goalies Barri Levitt and Taylyn Stadler and the rest of the Syosset team.
4th Grade Girls
The 4th grade girls team played a close game against Northport last Sunday and came out on top 6-4. Amanda Alejo played a terrific game in goal with eight saves. Congratulations to Meghan Balos, Sydney Fells and Rebecca Mackey for scoring their first goals of the season. Other goals were scored by Danielle Pitta and Taylyn Stadler. The defensive team of Nicole Avidon, Rachel Farijam and Ellie Hooey held the Northport Tigers attack at bay throughout the game. Jordyn Fells, Camryn Smithwick and Betsy Stephenson were aggressive on attack, even on a hot day.

4th Grade Boys Black
The 4th grade boys Black lacrosse team lost a hard-fought game 10-7 to Half Hallow Hills. After trailing 5-1 midway through the second quarter, the Braves battled back. Liam Kalbacher and John Rochford scored goals before the half to bring the halftime score to 5-3. The Braves continued to battle in the third quarter with some great defense by Stephen Conte, Shawn Connell, Brandon Brosnahan, John Babino, Thomas Bruefach, Paulie Cavesano and Andrew Harris. Thomas Goldrick made some big saves in the third quarter, and goals by Rochford and Kalbacher brought the Braves even at 7-7. Dylan Sapienza, Danny Ochs, Jake Mullin, Dean Marx, Sal Cresciamanni, Justin Cohen and Teddy Hanakis all played hard but it was not enough as Half Hallow Hills rallied for some late scores to pull out the win.
4th Grade Boys Red
The 4th grade boys Red lacrosse team continued their winning ways on Sunday with a fourth-quarter rally to beat a tough Rockville Centre team, 11-7. The offense, which had struggled the past two games, came alive at the right time. The Braves were led by attackman Dylan Gefter with three goals, and game MVP Dominic Speranza, who scored a goal and was a ground ball machine with a season-high nine scoops. J.P. Lanning had another sterling effort with two goals, two assists and six ground balls and Griffen Berke continued to impress with three assists and four ground balls. Eli Feder chipped in with a rocket-shot goal, and Joseph Schindel scored as well. Jake Needleman and Curtis Torti both played solid games at attack, midfield and defense to showcase their versatility, and Brian Dillon chipped in with two ground balls. After falling behind in the fourth, JT Roselle sparked the comeback with an unassisted goal following a hard crosscheck penalty by Rockville Centre, which was followed by two outstanding unassisted goals by middie Chris Daugherty off of face-off wins, to go along with his six ground balls. Once again the defense shut down their opponent at crunch time led by goalies Tyler Parlo (seven saves and an assist while playing midfield) and Tommy Markou (six saves and two ground balls on attack). Defensemen Matthew Luneburg, Austin Maccarone, Max Verch, Trevor Friedrich and Roselle combined for 14 ground balls, a number of hard hits and some great clearing work to lock down the win late in the game. Special thanks to stat keeper Eric Needlman and photographer Joe Lanning. See you at the Syosset-Woodbury Park turf field Mother's Day morning for a game against Farmingdale at 10:30 a.m.

The fifth grade boys squad played the Huntington Blue Devils this past Sunday. The boys had to contend with both a tough Huntington team and the hot sun on a turf field. Despite the conditions, the Braves started the first quarter and moved the ball well on offense. Despite strong shots on goal by Griffin Halpern, Matt Korn, David Moyett, Gregory Newman, Zack Tannenbaum and Cameron Zandieh, Syosset was held scoreless by the Huntington goalie. Strong defense and groundball play by Justin Corallo, Andrew Kravitz, Connor Ranges, Dylan Diaz, Will Sanchez and Riley Frain kept the score 1-0 at the end of the first quarter. The second period saw Matthew Sobel open the scoring for the Braves, tying the score at 1-1. The Blue Devils then dominated most of the second period with a ferocious attack. Despite goalie Jack Moore's five saves, the score at the half was 5-1 in favor of Huntington. At halftime, Coach Lukacovic stressed the need for passing and movement by the attack. The boys responded in the third. With help from Mathew Benus, Dylan Schloss, Matthew Farrell, Jimmy Sheehy, David Griffin and Jack Lukacovic fighting for ground balls and clears from Michael Sherman, attack man Jared Goldberg scored on an assist from Siddarth Menon. Then middie Matthew Frank scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Tom Middendorf to cut the score to 6-3 at the end of the third. In the fourth quarter, Moyett had an unassisted score to make it a 6-4 Blue Devil lead. Hopes of a comeback victory were dashed on two more Blue Devil goals for an 8-4 final. The next game is noon on Sunday at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park.
6th Grade Boys Black
Syosset's 6th grade boys Black lacrosse team had a resounding 11-0 win over North Shore this past Saturday on an unseasonably warm day. With temperatures in the 80s, the team was similarly hot. Mac O'Keefe scored six goals, with Frankie Catania providing two goals. Brendan Lyons, Max Lilian and Lucas Cotler each added one. The boys played their typical unselfish game with assists from Cameron Biegel (three), Lyons (two), Catania (two) and Luke Walker (one). Holding North Shore to zero goals means that the defense played with considerable stinginess. Jared Locke, Greg O'Brien and Luke Walker shut down North Shore's offense with excellent communication, hard checks, and smooth slides. Eric Aronson had some terrific saves in goal. Of course you can't win a game without controlling ground balls and the middle of the field. Exceptional midfield play was provided by Mike Elardo, Ryan Kelly, Kyle Delmaestro and James Goldrick whose efforts helped seal the win.
