5th Grade Boys
The 5th grade boys opened their 2010 season at Floral Park this past Sunday. After quickly starting out with a 3-2 lead against a tough Floral Park squad, the teams traded dueling goals. With less than 30 seconds left in the game and with possession of the ball the Braves were unable to tie the game. The game ended in a tough 9-8 loss. After the game the coaches stressed the need for more aggressive ground ball play and the need for passing. However, the coaches were proud of the effort of all the boys.
The 2010 team is coached by Drew Diaz, Tom Lukacovic and Ed Farrell. The team returns many veteran players from the 2009 team along with many new faces. Despite losing, all the boys all had a taste of lacrosse and are looking forward to next week's game.
6th Grade Black
The 6th grade Black team started the year off with a convincing 11-6 win over a tough West Islip team on Sunday in their home opener. Brandon Feit led the way with a hat trick, while Mac O'Keefe, Lucas Cotler and Kyle DelMaestro each buried two. Cole Burke and Cameron Biegel chipped in one apiece toward the win. Strong midfield play from Luke Walker, James Goldrick and Michael Elardo helped keep possession of the ball all afternoon and made great plays in between the lines. The defense, led by EJ Aronson, Jared Locke and Greg O'Brien kept the Lions on lockdown most of the contest. Congratulations to all the boys on their first win of the spring!
