TOBAY Race: Receiver of Taxes Candidates
Incumbent James Stefanich is challenged by Karl Viveiros.
Incumbent: James Stefanich
(R) lives in Syosset with his wife of 40 years, is a father of three and a grandfather of eight. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics from NYIT and has completed graduate coursework in management and accounting. Stefanich is a member of the New York State Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors and is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He has held the position of Receiver of Taxes since 2001.

Karl Viveiros (D), a resident of Farmingdale, has worked for the Board of Elections since 1996. Although he has never held a public office, he ran for the Water Commissioner of the Massapequa Water District. "Since the position of Receiver of Taxes does not sit on a town board to make decisions, I will be the eyes and ears for my community, bringing concerns and complaints to [the board's] attention and trying to ask them to address the issues and come to a fair solution for residents," he said.
