Town To Extend Friday Pool Hours Through Labor Day

Families can now beat the heat at local pools until 8:30 p.m.

With high temperatures and humidity expected throughout the month of August, Oyster Bay Town officials recently announced that local pool hours have been extended for the rest of the season.

Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced on Wednesday that hours of operation have been extended to 8:30 p.m. on Friday nights through Labor Day.

“Enjoy Friday night family-time and beat the heat at one of our Town pools this August,” Supervisor Joseph Saladino said. “Pool hours of operations have been extended and I invite residents to come down to one of our five community pools and make it your backyard home-away-from-home.”

In addition to the extended Friday hours, weekday hours of operation were extended for the season past 7 p.m. at the following locations and all resident pass-holders are welcome to visit any pool during this extended timeframe:

  • Mondays until 8:30 p.m. - Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park
  • Tuesdays until 8:30 p.m. - Syosset-Woodbury Community Park;
  • Wednesday until 8:30 p.m. - Bethpage Community Park
  • Thursdays until 8:30 p.m. - Marjorie R. Post Community Park in Massapequa
  • Fridays until 30 minutes prior to sunset - Tappen Beach.

Recently, officials announced that the Town will be making improvementsto local pools in time for next summer.
