Police ID Man Killed After Crashing Into Parked Landscaping Truck

The car flipped on its side, partially ejecting the 89-year-old driver, police say.

SYOSSET, NY - An 89-year-old man was killed after a crashing into a parked landscaping truck in Syosset on Friday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.

The man was driving a 2005 Toyota RAV 4 southbound on Split Rock Road when he struck the landscaping truck parked at Sagamore Drive at about 3:04 p.m.

The ramp of the truck was down, which caused the car to flip on its side and partially eject the man from his car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Syosset Fire Department.

Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. No criminality is suspected at this time.
