Woodbury Ranks Among America's Richest Towns: 2017 Bloomberg

Woodbury made the list of Bloomberg's 2017 "richest-towns-in-America."

Last week the business news service released the list of the top 100 communities in the U.S.

The local town was one of four Long Island communities to make the list. All four towns were located in Nassau County.

No Suffolk County towns made the list despite a town on the East End having the most expensive zip code in New York.

Bloomberg created the list by evaluating inflation-adjusted 2015 household income data for all U.S. towns with a minimum population of 2,000, and ranking them based on average household income. Nearly 6,200 met the criteria, but Bloomberg displayed the top 100.

The cities and towns with ties to Wall Street and the Silicon Valley were the ones that boasted the highest U.S. household incomes in 2015, according to the Bloomberg analysis of census data.

Bloomberg noted that Atherton, Calif., which is located in the Silicon Valley technology corridor between San Francisco and San Jose, topped the list as America’s wealthiest town. More than one-third of the nation’s 100 richest households were located within 50 miles of New York City.

Scarsdale in Westchester County was was No. 3 on the list and No. 1 in New York.

Woodbury ranked in at No. 51, with an average household income of $235,064. In addition, Lawrence came in at No. 50 with an average household income of $235,306, East Hills ranked in at No. 58 with an average household income of $225,957 and Garden City ranked in at No. 90 with an average household income of $198,884.
