Syracuse Water Department Shutting Off Water Near Montgomery And Washington Streets

Water service is expected to be restored by the morning of Thursday, Oct. 1.

The City of Syracuse Department of Water announced a temporary water shut off to buildings near the intersection of Montgomery Street and Washington Street in downtown Syracuse beginning at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, in order repair a leak in the service to City Hall Commons. The impacted areas include the 200 and 300 blocks of E. Washington Street, from S. State Street to S. Warren Street, and the 200 block of Montgomery Street, from E. Water Street to E. Fayette Street.

E. Washington Street will be closed to traffic between S. Warren Street and Montgomery Street. Detours signs will be in place to redirect traffic.

Water crews will begin to repair the leak and will work overnight to complete the project. Water service is expected to be restored by the morning of Thursday, Oct. 1. Syracuse City Hall and the City Hall Commons, which are already closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, will close to members of the public with appointments seeking a city service at 3:30 p.m.
