SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — A celebration of the art of writing will take place with the first Sleepy Hollow Lit Fest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Showcasing multiple areas of interest that connect deeply with the historic Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown area, the lit fest marks the 200th anniversary of the writing of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."

Organizers said it will be no ordinary festival, "but rather is a total celebration of the village of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow with events, readings and panels along the route of Ichabod Crane's literary journey and from Main Street to the Old Dutch Church and beyond," according to the Sleepy Hollow Lit Fest website.

There will be more than 100 multi-genre authors, activities and vendors, including author signings/book sales at Warner Library, Vendor Village food and shopping and special Event Tent with panels and presentations at Patriot's Park, youth theater workshops at Tarrytown Music Hall, music and teen open mic at Jazz Forum, spooky readings and scavenger hunts at Old Dutch Church/Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and literary and poetry readings at the Writers Center at Philipse Manor Station.
