Annual Festival Features Jazz Greats Performing on the Banks of the Hudson River

The jazz festival is steps away from the Poughkeepsie Train Station on Metro-North's Hudson Line.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — If you want to spend an afternoon listening to jazz while overlooking the Hudson River, then the annual Jazz in the Valley in Poughkeepsie is for you.

From noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, August 21 at Waryas Park, jazz luminaries such as pianist Randy Weston, trumpeter Randy Brecker, saxophonist Javon Jackson, trombonist Craig Harris and drummer Jimmy Cobb will be entertaining crowds on the banks of the Hudson River.

The festival takes places on two stages at Waryas Park: the main stage under the big tent, where the headline acts will perform, and the pavilion stage, where an afternoon of free performances will take place.

Adding to the experience will be a food court and global marketplace.

Early bird tickets for $40 are available for purchase through Sunday, August 14. After that, general admission is $50 in advance. It’s $60 at the gate. Students with valid ID gain entrance for $20.

The festival is located steps away from Metro-North’s Poughkeepsie Train Station on the Hudson Line, so there's no need to find parking if you come up by train.
