Ardsley Multicultural and Diversity Committee is a role model

committee encourages respect and appreciation of other cultures and differences

ARDSLEY'S DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE
During the holiday season it's important to highlight the good in our community. A group of residents in the Village of Ardsley deserve to be applauded for encouraging respect of different cultures and backgrounds. The Ardsley Multicultural Diversity & Inclusion Committee works year round encouraging people to respect other people's differences. Ardsley is a diverse community. The committee has sponsored programs helping residents understand and appreciate their neighbors holidays and lifestyles. The committee highlights the villages desire to "open minds and open hearts". Lawn signs have been placed around the village objecting to hate. Different events featuring activities practiced by different groups -whether they are Pakistani, Chinese, Indian, Jewish, African American, LGBT are held each year. During the pandemic a virtual book club sponsored events. The events (especially before the pandemic) were well attended by residents who want to learn more about their neighbors.
I recently interviewed Village Trustee Steve Edelstein and Sania Samad of the Committee to discuss their efforts to promote inclusion. I think that what Ardsley has been doing should become a national model. The link is below. Also posted a link to a story in the wag magazine.
