I have to admit, I hate the word “staycation.” Clever way of putting two concepts together (I’m guilty of doing it all the time), but I just don’t feel like you need a vacation—or an excuse—to take advantage of the things going on in your backyard. (Stepping off the soapbox now…)

It always feels like there is plenty to do in and around the county that you can turn into an all day excursion. While I understand the motivation behind planning a budget-friendly trip that doesn’t require a passport, you don’t have to travel far to get a taste of countries around the world. You just have to find the Westchester restaurants that have a little character and authenticity…
