Bill Introduced To Change Bridge Name Back To TZB

The name change was approved in June in an omnibus bill at the end of the 2017 legislative session.

TARRYTOWN, NY — No one is saying it’s a sure thing, but a bill has been introduced in Albany to change the name of the Gov. Mario M Cuomo Bridge back to its previous version. The bill was authored by Assemblyman Kevin Byrne, R-Mahopac, and was encouraged by more than 100,000 signatures on an online petition.

The bill, if passed, would change the name back to the Gov. Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge, which it was from 1994 until 2017, the Journal News said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo would have to sign the bill, something he’s said he’s not really willing to do.
