Blue Hill at Stone Barns Wins Prestigious Award
The famous Hudson Valley restaurant - located in Pocantico Hills - recently was honored by the James Beard Foundation.
Blue Hill at Stone Barns has been named Outstanding Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation, the organization announced this week.
Located on the Rockefeller estate in Pocantico Hills, the restaurant is widely considered to be one of the best in the region, and it has received other accolades, such as being named one of the top 100 restaurants in the country by OpenTable.com.
Considered the “Oscars of the food world,” the James Beard Awards cover all aspects of the food industry, including chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors, food journalists, restaurant designers and others.

Established in 1990, the James Beard Foundation Awards recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields, and emphasize the Foundation’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor America’s diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire. Each Awards category has an individual Awards committee, made up of industry professionals, who volunteer their time to oversee the policies, procedures, and selection of judges for their respective awards. All award winners receive a certificate and a medallion engraved with the James Beard Foundation Awards insignia. There are no cash prizes.

Blue Hill at Stone Barns is renowned for its exquisite, fresh local ingredients, and the restaurant hosted the wedding of MSNBC host Alex Wagner and White House chef Sam Kass in August 2014, which was attended by President Barack Obama.
“There are no menus at Blue Hill at Stone Barns; Our Grazing, Pecking and Rooting option is the instant reflection of the day’s harvest,” according to the restaurant.
