Bronx Man Arrested on Sprain Brook Parkway for Illegal Weapons

A faulty tail light led to the the police stop.

New York State Police arrested a Bronx man on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh on weapon-possession charges.

Troopers were patrolling the parkway Friday around 1 a.m. when they stopped a Hyundai Sonata for having a broken tail light.

After approaching the car, troopers said there was the smell of marijuana coming from it.

A subsequent investigation found that the driver, Saul R. Colon, 20, was in possession of a loaded unregistered revolver handgun and an expandable baton.

Colon was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.

Colon is scheduled to appear next in court Tuesday, June 14.
