Burglaries Near Lyndhurst Mansion Lead To Irvington School Lockouts
As a hunt for a group of teenagers believed to be involved in a burglary near the historic site got underway, neighbors felt the heat.

TARRYTOWN, NY — A massive police response to a burglary near a Hudson Valley landmark caused a tense morning for neighbors and briefly put nearby schools into a lockout.
A multi-agency police pursuit of teenage suspects believed to be involved burglaries near the historic Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown frayed nerves in nearby Hudson Valley river towns, but police officials said there was no danger to the community at large.
"There is currently police activity near the Lyndhurst property in Tarrytown," Irvington police said in a statement released early Monday morning. "Multiple police agencies and resources are on scene, including a police helicopter. While this might cause concern for some in the community, there is no direct threat in Irvington. People are encouraged to go about their activities as normal."

Out of "an abundance of caution," Irvington schools briefly went into a lockout.
"While we were not directed to do anything other than to stay aware, we determined that ... the prudent course of action would be to impose a Lockout at each of our buildings," Acting Superintendent Joel Adelberg told parents in a message Monday morning. "A Lockout means that once our students and staff are in our schools, there will be one single point of locked entry and all access to the building from outside would be restricted. Outside recess and PE classes will be held indoors. Inside our buildings, our students and staff will proceed with the day as 'business as usual.'"
