Join us for a reading from When All the Men Wore Hats, a sympathetic and illuminating account of the intersecting life and work of the legendary writer John Cheever, as told by his eldest daughter, Susan Cheever. Susan will be joined by her brother, fellow writer Benjamin H. Cheever, for a conversation about writing, the family legacy, and the connections between art and life.

Ticket price includes a copy of When All the Men Wore Hats, as well as access to a light reception with wine and hors'd oeuvres provided by Evelyn Hadad.

BIOS

Susan Cheever is the author of many books on American history, including Drinking in America: Our Secret History. She is also the author of numerous novels; a biography of the Alcoholics Anonymous cofounder Bill Wilson; and Home Before Dark, a memoir about her father, John Cheever. She teaches at Bennington College and the New School in their MFA programs.

Benjamin Cheever has been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Gourmet, Runner’s World.  He has taught at Bennington College, The New School for Social Research and the Hudson Valley Writers Center.  He also published a book on running titled Strides, and a book on employment titled SELLING BEN CHEEVER.  He edited The Letters of John Cheever and published four novels: The Plagiarist, The Partisan, Famous After Death and The Good Nanny.  He has been at work for twenty years now on a book about dogs.  He lives in Croton on Hudson with his beloved dog, Fifi.
