EXTENDED SYNOPSIS

The intake questionnaire used by the United States immigration court for an unaccompanied minor contains forty questions. The child's answers can determine whether they obtain a lawyer, whether their case moves forward, whether they are allowed to remain, or whether they are sent back. Valeria Luiselli translated these responses as a volunteer in New York immigration courts and transformed the experience into Tell Me How It Ends, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Linn Cary Mehta adapted the essay into a twenty-question monologue. Germán Jaramillo directs, and Sandra Gumuzzio carries the piece alone onstage, with original music by Pablo Mayor and Carlos Durán. The voices of young migrants supported by Unidad Latina en Acción (ULA) are woven into the work. These young people have courageously shared their experiences traveling to the United States as unaccompanied minors. For their safety, their names are not disclosed.

The work moves beyond the fleeting impact of a news story. It offers a lasting understanding of what migration means in real life and asks audiences to listen, to bear witness, and to act.

ABOUT THE EPILOGUE

The epilogue is a short film created to accompany the piece. Germán Jaramillo conducts the interviews, Nicole Fernández serves as cinematographer and editor, Ximena Zuluaga oversees general production, and ID Studio Theater serves as executive producer. It is a Somondoco Films production in collaboration with Unidad Latina en Acción, an organization led by John Jairo Lugo. For their safety, the names of the participating children are not disclosed.

SINOPSIS EXTENDIDA
