TARRYTOWN, NY — The installation of new gas mains on Broadway (Route 9) will be happening soon than expected.

Con Edison had planned for the work to begin in late August, but the utility company just informed the village of Tarrytown that they are ahead of schedule.

Therefore, the work will begin in Tarrytown Monday.

Con Edison will notify businesses and residents along the area via email and letter/hang card directly sent to the homes.

The work will be done during the following overnight hours:

  • Monday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Tuesday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Wednesday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Thursday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Friday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Saturday 6:30 p.m. - 6 a.m.

Because of the rescheduling of the work on Broadway, the state Department of Transportation said they will postpone repaving Route9/Broadway from 119 to Beekman Avenue until spring 2022.

Wilson Park Paving

ConEdison also has approached the village to upgrade its gas mains in the Wilson Park neighborhood (and surrounding neighborhoods). This work will start on the following roads Wilson Park Drive (From Tower Hill Road to Beech Lane); Warner Lane, River Terrace, Lake Terrace, Warren Avenue (from Beech Lane to McKeel Avenue). This work will be completed during normal work hours and PD will be on scene as necessary. Residents can anticipate road closures, however access to homes will be maintained (although there may be minor delays at times for access).

Later in the project, and proceeding into 2022, the following streets will be upgraded/impacted as well: Walden Rd, Beech Lane, Warren Avenue, McKeel Avenue, Suncliff Drive, Sunhaven Court, Woodland Avenue, Hillside Place, and lastly, Neperan Road from McKeel to Egans Lot (proceeding along the trail). The village will keep the community apprised of updates as the ConEd work progresses.

There may be a temporary suspension of gas service to homes as ConEd disconnects and reconnects service. Residents should be aware that an inspection is required before they turn the gas back on, and if there are any indoor failures, leaks or hazards with your gas systems, they could issue a “red card” and shut down residents’ gas service until those issues are remedied. You may have even already had an inspection, as the village had mentioned a few weeks ago that inspections were ongoing.
