TARRYTOWN, NY — A video showing the planned 3.6-mile bicycle and pedestrian path for the new Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge was released by the Thruway Authority. The shared path will be one of the longest of its kind in the nation and will, for the first time, provide a dedicated crossing for cyclists and pedestrians between Rockland and Westchester counties across the Hudson River.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that, now that traffic is flowing on the eastbound span of the new bridge, work is progressing on the construction of path on the westbound span.
"When this scenic path opens next year, residents and visitors will have unprecedented views of the enduring beauty of the lower Hudson River Valley, along with more ways to cross the majestic river," he said.

When completed in 2019, the 12-foot-wide path will be located on the northern side of the westbound span of the bridge. It will be separated from traffic by a concrete barrier and fencing and will feature six scenic overlooks across the length of the 3.1-mile crossing.
The overlooks will have their own unique themes.
