Dixson Students Celebrate 100th Day of School
Storytime, crafts were some of the fun "100th Day of School" activities for students in Elmsford

Students at the Carl L. Dixson Primary School in the Elmsford Union Free School District had a chance to mark the 100th day of school Feb. 14 by making special hats and finding different ways to build interesting structures from 100 pieces of craft items.
“Notice that 100 can look different,” Principal Jeffrey Olender pointed out to the kindergartners who were in the school gym for the special celebratory event. “Take 100 cotton balls, that looks like a lot, but 100 Cheerios looks a lot smaller.”
Superintendent Dr. Marc Baiocco took time out of his busy schedule to read to the students and shortly after, it was time to get moving. Mr. Olender joined the children as they touched their toes, hopped on one foot and marched, all the while counting to 100.

“Start with one,” he told them. “When we’re done, I promise, we will have gotten to 100.”
As the children delved into their projects, Mr. Olender suggested that they use their creativity while using 100 lego pieces, coins, popsicle sticks or felt shapes that were made available to them.
